The VL53L1X is a cutting-edge Time-of-Flight (ToF) laser-ranging sensor from ST’s FlightSense family. As the fastest miniature ToF sensor available, it delivers precise distance measurements up to 4 meters at rates of up to 50 Hz.

Packaged in a compact, reflowable design, it combines a SPAD receiving array, a 940 nm Class 1 invisible laser emitter, physical IR filters, and integrated optics. This configuration ensures superior ranging performance across diverse lighting conditions and supports multiple cover glass options.

Leveraging ST’s latest ToF technology, the VL53L1X measures absolute distance regardless of target color or reflectance—unlike traditional IR sensors. Additionally, its programmable ROI on the receiving array enables dynamic adjustment of the sensor’s field of view.
